Instructions

  • Discussion: Begin by discussing what "identity" means. Ask students to think about what makes up their own identity (family background, traditions, beliefs, etc.).

  • Activity: Students will read a short article about Jewish American identity and how it has evolved over time.

  • Reflection: Students will write a journal entry reflecting on the following: “What makes up your identity? How do you think Jewish Americans balance their Jewish and American identities?”
